Luke 12:49-53
49 “I came to cast fire on the earth, and would that it were already kindled! 50 I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how great is my distress until it is accomplished! 51 Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. 52 For from now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three. 53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”
In the name of the Father and the ᛭ Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. The lines of war are drawn by this Jesus. He comes to take back the spoils of the biggest heist in the history of the world. The devil is in full attack mode. The world hates you because it hates him. Your sinful nature betrays you. Death is waiting at unexpected times. Sin is tearing you apart. No one is safe from the attack. But Jesus comes to give you peace. He comes to pluck you out of the sin and death and the midst of war. He comes to buy you back. It cost him his most precious life. He spent his blood to have you. The devil is powerless against him. You win because of Jesus. You live because of Jesus. You have hope unlike the world. You have eternal life with Jesus in peace. God has brought you into peace from the war of sin and death. So we wait, but we know it will only be a moment. He comes again to claim the spoils of his victory. You are his treasure. In the name of ᛭ Jesus. Amen.
