Lord, remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray…

2 Timothy 1:3-7
3 I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. 4 As I remember your tears, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy. 5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. 6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
In the name of the Father and the +Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. We are often convinced that we are going at our struggles and life alone. The devil would tell us that we must worry about ourselves. The fact of the matter is this: your God has placed you in a family. He has transformed you into a son. He has placed you, not only in a congregation of faithful believers, but in a spiritual house. That family prays for each other. That family is reassured with the truth that Jesus is alive and he lives with his people. This is the God that delivers and forgives. This is the God of power and might that comes in the simple instruction of a mother and father or grandmother. This is the God that delights in you. Thanks be to God that he has gathered us together as his people and placed us in his house. In the name of +Jesus. Amen.
You may utilize the Order of Daily Prayer for Individuals and Families (pages 295-298) in Lutheran Service Book for your family prayers.
The Collect of the Week:
O God, who in the glorious transfiguration of Your only-begotten Son confirmed the mysteries of the faith by the testimony of the fathers and who, in the voice that came from the bright cloud, did in a wonderful manner foreshow the adoption of sons, mercifully make us co-heirs with the King of His glory and bring us to the enjoyment of our inheritance in heaven; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Prayer for us and others:
For the pre-born, the weak, the sick, those in hospital, those in hospice, and those who cannot care for themselves;
For pastors, that they would rejoice in their congregations;
For the families of our schools, that the Lord would continue to sustain them in peace and wisdom;
For our pastors (Pastor White and Pastor Cholak);
For the elders of Our Savior Lutheran Church as they work to call an assistant pastor;
For all the shut-ins and elderly of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
