Lord, remember us in your kingdom and teach us to pray…

Luke 9:18-20
18 Now it happened that as he was praying alone, the disciples were with him. And he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” 19 And they answered, “John the Baptist. But others say, Elijah, and others, that one of the prophets of old has risen.” 20 Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” And Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”
In the name of the Father and the ᛭ Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Flesh and blood has not revealed this to Peter or to you or me. We cannot by our own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ or come to him. This has to be revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. The world will put all kinds of suggestions out there about who Jesus is. Only faith calls him what he is: the Christ of God. He is the One that has saved the world by his own blood shed on the cross. He claims you by putting his name upon you in Baptism. He promises to come again for you. He gives you his word that he fights for you. He is your Champion and Warrior. He goes with you into the fight. Thanks be to God. In the name of ᛭ Jesus. Amen.
You may utilize the Order of Daily Prayer for Individuals and Families (pages 295-298) in Lutheran Service Book for your family prayers.
The Collect of the Day:
Almighty and everlasting God, the heavenly Father who shows the light of truth to those who are in error so that they may return into the way of righteousness, cause all who are admitted into the fellowship of Christ's Church to avoid those things that are contrary to their profession and to follow all such things that are agreeable thereto; through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
